An exciting new development, came in under the radar. "Singing Sands Resort", including the bar/grill called "Joe's" in North Palmetto Point on the Atlantic Ocean, is slated to open in late November, 2005. A family from Key West, Harold Merritt, wife Ziggi, sons Paul and Joe, had been quietly organizing and building their development over the past year. It will be very informal, and Ziggy says the dress code will only be that you wear clothes!! Preliminary tastings at the restaurant included delicious shrimp scampi, ham/cheese melts, flavored breadsticks, and awesome seafood pasta, made by Ziggy. We will post the menu as soon as it becomes available. To get there: From Governors Harbour, take Banks Road; it is about 2 miles south of Tippys on Banks Road, on the left toward North Palmetto Point; go past Sands Nursery; take the first left after the "Bougainvillea" Estate, the road, on the left, is an unmarked, paved road. Go all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, and there you are!

Run by the family from the Florida Keys, they are bringing a full service resort to Eleuthera. According to the affable, and intelligent 14 year old Paul, the spokesman and leader of tours, they are "....bringing back the Bahamas to Eleuthera" with the characteristic colored houses of bygone eras in the Bahamas. According to Paul, they plan a full service bar on a deck overlooking the Atlantic, and full restaurant, a spa, an art gallery, diving, cave tours, as well as one bedroom (5) and two bedroom houses.(25)
In short, they will be a valuable asset to all members of Eleuthera, and provide a much needed boost to all sectors of the economy. Not only do they plan to service visitors to Eleuthera, but hope to attract locals, as well as visitors staying in other locations.
Paul and family welcomes visitors, and will gladly take you on tours to show off their impressive resort. Call Paul to arrange a tour, or for any questions.
