BAHAMAS MAPS

This maps shows the major islands of the Bahamas. Technically, the Bahamas are composed of an archipelago of 700 islands, The two main islands, New Providence (Nassau) and Grand Bahama (Freeport) are the centers of government and industry. The other islands are called the "Family" island,s or "Out Islands".

The Bahamas are closest to the USA in Bimini, where it is a mere 60 miles away. The furthest away is Great Inagua, where the occasional Cuban rafter turns up.

This map clearly shows the "Tongue of the Ocean" off Andros, which are considered prime fishing grounds
